The ACR GlobalFix V5 EPIRB accurately derives its position anywhere in the world using GNSS (GPS, Galileo, Glonass) positioning networks. Vessels in the area where the EPIRB has been activated can then start rescue and recovery operations immediately without having to wait for emergency response from the applicable search and rescue authority.

Overview

The ACR GlobalFix V5 EPIRB combines 406 MHz satellite connectivity with Automatic Identification System (AIS) functionality — delivering the fastest and most technologically advanced path to rescue available in a marine emergency position-indicating radio beacon.

The ACR GlobalFix V5 AIS EPIRB 2851 is a next-generation emergency position-indicating radio beacon engineered for mariners operating in coastal, offshore, and ocean-crossing environments. When activated, the GlobalFix V5 simultaneously transmits your emergency distress signal to the global Cospas-Sarsat satellite rescue network on 406MHz and broadcasts a live AIS safety message on VHF frequencies — enabling any AIS-equipped vessel in the vicinity to immediately detect the EPIRB as an AIS target on their chartplotter and navigate directly to your position. This dual-transmission capability dramatically accelerates rescue response times by mobilising nearby vessels in parallel with the global satellite search and rescue network.

Return Link Service (RLS) provides an unprecedented level of confirmation to the person who activates the EPIRB — delivering a signal back to the beacon confirming that the distress message has been received by the Cospas-Sarsat satellite system. This eliminates the uncertainty that has historically accompanied EPIRB activation and provides critical reassurance during life-threatening emergencies at sea.

Near Field Communication (NFC) technology allows users to access full EPIRB diagnostics, registration data, and product functionality directly from their smartphone — without removing the beacon from its bracket or powering the unit on. This industry-first capability simplifies routine checks, registration verification, and pre-departure safety inspections for vessel operators, fleet managers, and safety officers.

The GlobalFix V5 represents the most capable and feature-rich EPIRB available to the commercial and recreational marine market, combining every critical rescue technology — 406MHz satellite distress signalling, AIS broadcasting, GPS positioning, Return Link Service, and NFC diagnostics — into a single SOLAS-approved unit suitable for any vessel operating anywhere in the world.
